TYPESETTING
|
|
The majority of our publications are heavily designed, technical textbooks.
Our expertise enables us to take on the most complex designs and subject matter.
Our clients rely on our error-free files, our consistent file setup, and our efficiency in following customer specifications.
Most of our typesetters have been in the industry for more than 15 years.
We know which questions to ask.
Thats why our clients keep returning, again and again.

QuarkXPress
|
|
ICC Macmillan uses QuarkXPress for many of our projects, from one-color newsletters to heavily designed, five-color books.
Quark is often our program of choice because it is such a precise and accurate tool for paging books.
Third-party software is readily available to make Quark even more accommodating.
It can easily handle multiple colors, foreign languages, and imported illustrations.
To set math in Quark we use XMath, PowerMath, or MathSetter, to name a few.

TeX/LaTeX
|
|
ICC Macmillan is extremely proficient in TeX/LaTeX.
TeX includes built-in functionality for typesetting mathematics and uses excellent hyphenation and page- and line-breaking algorithms.
It is extensible and customizable for complex or unique projects.
It is flexible and freely available for virtually all modern computer platforms.
When using LaTeX, we also gain the following features: automatic numbering of chapters, sectional elements, equations, figures, and footnotes; automatic handling of references to numbered elements; and automatic generation of tables of contents, lists of figures and tables, and indexes.

|
Additionally, LaTeX has become one of the primary means of generating paper output from SGML and XML sources.
LaTeX can also be converted to Web format with the help of LaTeX2HTML and TeX4ht, which are designed specifically for generating customized HTML output from LaTeX input.
